Jonathan regularly acts for finance houses, on disputes surrounding hire purchase and loan agreements. He has been instructed on all manner of contract disputes including the sale of goods and supply of services, misrepresentation and guarantees. In addition, his practice extends to company law, including breach of director’s duties and breach of fiduciary duty.

He is regularly instructed on property matters, with an emphasis on Commercial Landlord and Tenant, and Rights of Way cases.

Jonathan was awarded the Oxford University Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice in 2011. He has advised on trade marks and passing off, particularly in the context of internet domain name and search engine disputes. He has also advised on copyright and design rights, registered and unregistered, and is able to give advice on ownership of these rights as well as possible infringement. He has a thorough knowledge of the ICANN and Nominet domain name dispute resolution procedures, and has given a seminar on the subject.

He appears regularly in the Companies Winding-up court in Leeds. He is regularly instructed in applications relating to bankruptcy. He has a particular interest in issues surrounding the implications of insolvency on intellectual property.
